Ballet Mori: a ballet conducted by the earth
Presented by the San Francisco Ballet
SF Opera House, 4 April 2006

In honor of the Centennial of the 1906 Earthquake, Ballet Mori will engage the earth as a living medium and a conductor for dance. Minute ground movement will be measured at UC Berkeley's Hayward Fault and conveyed via the internet to the San Francisco Opera House. On stage, Principal Dancer Muriel Maffre will respond in real time to a musical composition modulated by the unpredictable fluctuations of the earth's movement.
