Any attempt to create a complete system, whether generated by politics, science or art, has to repress contingencies and individual perspectives in favor of a coherent vision. Seductive, but perhaps only as a spectacle.

This sense of spectacle is to me central to the whole telematic. It is playing out in front of me as a really big movie, complete with narratives as old as the world and special effects as futuristic as anything the circus might promise. I use some of the tools, and can see myself using many more (as I write this from a hotel room in Tokyo), but their interpenetrating effects still feel like a performance being played out by imagineers.
