I guess I'm not convinced that evidence for a sense of the distributed self/global embrace will be as comfortingly "real"(photographic, representational) as "Earth Rising." It may be more attenuated, like Amazon.com or any number of other data-obsessive projects, which, to my mind, are about more than information; which are about understanding, expression, and experience, even if they

don't _feel_ quite that way, exactly, right now.
