If, as Marshall McLuhan provocatively observed, the medium is the message, and the medium operates on an active-passive model of command and control, then the message is far from the cutting edge of intellectual discourses regarding telepistemology and agency.

I suggest that the term "telematic" must imply a model of agency at a distance that transcends the conventional active-passive paradigm, and achieves a greater degree of decentralized organization amongst collaborators than is offered by the inherited hierarchical systems of control that dominate the structure of power in society.
