Instructions for Streaming Media Project #2: Computer Film Portrait of Baltimore

  1. In the spirit of the dark, seedy side of Baltimore, such as in the writings of Edgar Allen Poe or the films of John Waters, create a video portrait of "charm" city. Choose a location (or several), that demonstrates in some form the underbelly of Baltimore, it's culture, residents, art, subversion, multi-culturalism, whatever you choose.
  2. Keep the video very short, no more than one minute. Limit the amount of editing, you might try to capture your whole piece in one shot. Make sure the imagery is striking enough to be readable in a small on-line video.
  3. When you complete the video, follow the same procedure as the self-portrait, transferring your piece to realvideo. I will upload them onto my realserver.
  4. When we are working on the magazine, I want you to think about how you can incoporporate these short films. Perhaps as a multi-perspective portrait of Baltimore, maybe they could even be joined together in some way. Have fun with it!
