Notes:
-- After beginning his involvement in performance art in the 1960s, most notably with the Fluxus group, Paik arrived in New York from Europe in 1964 and began a long series of controversial performance collaborations
-- This work was created in 1963, for the first “elevision” exhibition in the history of art, entitled “Exposition of Music” at the Galerie Pernass in Wuppertal, Germany.
-- When considering Paik as an artist, one must always consider his origins as a musician and the influence of Schoenberg and Cage.
-- This exhibition was a logical step for Paik, a transition to his electronic works, in that it was a deconstruction of the traditional understanding of music.
