Rhizome

A rhizome is a horizontal, root-like stem that extends underground and sends out shoots to the surface. Rhizomes connect plants in a living network. Rhizome is also a figurative term used by Gilles Deleuze and Felix Guattari to describe non-hierarchical networks of all kinds. Rhizome has become one of the most widely read, widely referred to art, technology and culture forums on the Web today. It's "raw" edition includes a vast subscriber base which engages in lively dialog on a daily basis, while the weekly "digest" is a streamlined newsletter with topical debates and articles. Founded by creative diretor Mark Tribe, edited by media curator Alex Galloway, Rhizome functions, in their own words, as "a communications machine," probing and finding the illusive pulse of the quickly evolving digital arts community.
